Donegal offers two PPO plans and a QHDHP through Highmark Insurance. Employees who do not need our medical insurance may be eligible for a health opt out payment.

Dental Insurance is provided by Delta Dental. There are two plans available for our employees: Basic & Enhanced.

Vision Insurance provides employees with the option of choosing between VSP and EyeMed Vision Care.

Donegal recognizes the need for employees to enjoy time away from the office and makes PTO available to all full-time employees, starting at 2 weeks per year for new hires. New employees will receive PTO on their first day of employment. Military leave, jury duty and bereavement leave are also available for employees.

Donegal strongly encourages employees to strive for excellent attendance records. At the same time, sicknesses occur. New employees receive a minimum of 6 days of Paid Sick Time each year.

Both PTO and Paid Sick Time may be prorated during a new employee’s first year, based on date of hire.

Donegal provides paid holidays each year to full-time employees, which have traditionally included:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Good Friday (half day)
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day
  • Day before or after Christmas Day

Donegal gives employees the opportunity to prepare for retirement through pretax contributions, Roth contributions, and after-tax contributions. New hires will be eligible to participate 30 days after date of hire. Donegal provides a competitive matching contribution and employees become fully vested in the Company’s matching after 2 years of employment. The first 3% is matched at 100%, and the next 6% is matched at 50%. Employees’ own contributions are always 100% vested.

All full-time employees are covered by group term life and accidental death and dismemberment coverage effective on the first day of employment. The general benefit is twice the employee’s annual salary plus $25,000.

Donegal offers both Short-Term and Long-Term Disability for all full-time employees, effective 3 months following date of hire.

Donegal offers to employees Medical and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs), as well as Health Savings Accounts (HSAs). HSAs require the participant to be enrolled in a QHDHP and can be used to pay for eligible out-of-pocket expenses.

Full-time employees are eligible to participate in a program to have up to 10% of wages deducted from pay to purchase shares of Donegal Group Inc. stock at a discount.

All full-time employees are eligible to participate in a Donegal Incentive Plan. Criteria is established for the issuance of an employee incentive based on the profitability of the Company in the prior calendar year.

Donegal offers an Employee Assistance Program to help promote well-being and enhance the quality of life of employees and their families. Support and guidance is available for assistance with family and personal issues.

Donegal offers a year-round business casual dress code policy, subject to certain exceptions such as meeting with external clients or customers.

Donegal encourages employees to take advantage of property and casualty insurance continuing education and will reimburse pre-approved tuition, registration and exam fees along with books and materials, provided that a passing grade is achieved. Developmental awards are granted upon completion of various insurance related programs.

The Corporate Office in Marietta, PA offers an on-site fitness facility and cafeteria with a variety of healthy food options.
